How to Join

Westbrook Academy is accepting applications.

If you’d like to join, then please take the following steps:

  1. Read the Setting page to make sure you want to play in the setting we have.
  2. Read the Rules page to make sure you can abide by all our rules.
  3. Post an application (as a Guest) in the Enrollment forum. A template is provided for you.

There are then four phases to the enrollment process that you will be guided through.

Out of Character Interview – This is the first phase of our enrollment process. After posting your application, an officer will reply to your application thread to schedule a time for an out-of-character interview. You are responsible for monitoring your application thread so that you can coordinate with the officer. During the OOC interview, the officer will discuss your character’s concept with you to determine how well it would fit with our group. The officer may make suggestions on how to adjust the concept to better suit our setting, but some concepts just aren’t appropriate for our group and may be declined.

New Student Orientation – If the OOC interview goes well, you’ll be invited to attend a New Student Orientation. This is an in-character event. Your character will typically be taken on a campus tour where you will get to interact with many of our members. In addition to letting us assess how well you interact with the group, it also allows you to get acquainted with many of our members right away. After the orientation, an officer will meet with you for a brief OOC follow-up meeting to discuss any concerns that may have been raised during your tour, whether from you as an applicant or from the officer on behalf of the group. We’ll work to address any concerns that may have been raised, but if the character does not seem to be appropriate for our setting, it may be declined.

Probationary Membership – If the OOC interview and the NSO tour all go well, then your character may be invited to join the supergroup as a Probationary Member. As a Probationary Member, you will be under continual review for at least a month to see how your character is settling into our community. If concerns are raised that we feel can be addressed, an officer will contact you for discussion with the intent of helping you fix them. If it becomes clear that your character is not suitable for our setting or that your roleplay is not compatible with our group, you may be removed from the group and declined membership. Our officers aim to address issues in such a way as to give Probationary Members a fair opportunity to settle into our group.

Membership – If the Probation period runs well, an officer will meet with you to invite you to full group Membership. During this meeting, the officer will discuss any feedback the officers may have on your character, good or bad. You will also be given another opportunity to voice any concerns or questions you might have (though you are welcome to approach our officers with concerns or questions at any time). While the primary factor in determining whether you are extended membership is the officers’ review, there are a few objective requirements you must have satisfied as well: you must have posted your character’s student profile in our student records forum, you must have been active in the group for at least one month, and you must have a school uniform.
