((If you've got a reason to be on the boys' floor, then feel free to jump in.))
Puffs of dense, deep violet smoke curled out of one of the dorm rooms on the boys' floor. Diego had managed to get all his things into the commons, and had spent all morning teleporting everything into his room. Poppy would likely think he was misusing his powers, wasting his gift on something so mundane. Diego just saw it as a quick means to an end, and it just happened to be an easy way to practice. He looked over his morning's work, feeling awfully proud of himself. He grabbed his bedding from one of the boxes and started making his bed.
He'd never been one to be nervous starting something new, but he couldn't help but feeling like he was out of his league. Most of the people he'd met seemed to have a lot more useful abilities than he did. Seriously, it seemed like damn near everybody was either a cyborg or could throw fireballs. And then there was Tosh and her robot legions. And what did he have? He frowned over at his compound bow and his quiver of arrows as he tucked the fitted sheet around the mattress. Oh sure, they weren't just arrows. Between the adhesive tips, acidic compounds, taser rounds, not to mention the EMP attachments he was working on, he had something for every occasion. He could do more than just pin cushion people. Diego was determined that he would hold his own here at Westbrook.

Re: Settling In (Open)
Lorne poked his head in to the new kid's open dorm room and saw Diego attempting to make his bed by himself. "Heya, D., need a hand?" Before he could answer Lorne was in the room and grabbing another corner of the blanket.
"How are you settling in? Woah, hey, is that a bow?"

Re: Settling In (Open)
"Thanks, man."
Between the two of them, the rest of the bed making process went by quickly. He reached for a couple pillows, tossed one of them and a pillow case Lorne's way.
"Settling in alright. Figured out where my classes are, and don't have a roommate just yet. Hopefully that'll change soon," he replied as he shoved his pillow into the other case in his hand.
He glanced over his shoulder to the compound bow sitting in the corner. He had mounting brackets so that he could hang it on the wall, but he was waiting for the okay from the RA before he put any sort of holes in the wall. He shook the pillow the rest of the way into the pillow case, then tossed it onto the bed.
"Yeah, that's my bow. Feel free to take a look at it, but don't dry fire it. Its a good way to ruin the limbs and mess up the cams," he said casually.

Lorne walked over to the bow and picked it up turning it over in his hands. It was heavier than he thought it would be. "This is pretty cool, man. You're kinda at a disadvantage." He paused while he set the bow back down in the corner giving Diego a moment to ponder his words. "We got a big dance here in a week, and here you are not knowing anyone in the school. If you'd like I can maybe introduce you to a few of the girls."

Re: Settling In (Open)
Diego quirked an eyebrow when Lorne said he was at a disadvantage. Seriously? If Fuzzy knew the mechanics behind how a compound bow worked, he would know that the young man wasn't disadvantaged at all. Lorne's next comment cleared things up though. He must've been talking about the Valentine's Day dance. Oh he'd heard the chatter in the halls, and he'd seen the posters plastered here and there around campus. He'd planned to go, whether he had a date or not.
He shrugged as he grabbed a bag and started pulling clothes out. "You don't have to. The girls I've met so far, they're nice. Probably would have a great time at the dance with them. Don't think any of them are really my type though."
He didn't elaborate though. He did add, "I'll just have to keep an eye out and see who's there unattached. Don't have to have a date to have a good time."

Lorne laughed, "I heard that! Go with some one you have to dance with them all night. Go stag, you can dance with anyone you want. It's a nice way to be."
Lorne picked up a box and set it on a desk. "You need a hand unpacking your stuff? I have two and they're pretty handy." Lorne chuckled to himself and repeated quietly, "...handy."

Etienne appeared in the doorway silently, as if he he appeared out of thin air.
"Good day, mon amis."
He smiled, he teeth start white against his cappuccino skin. "I am Etienne. Just across de hall."
He looked around, seeing all the boxes. "Look like you got unpacking to do, mon ami. Best get out your hair."

"Just uh. Don't let them scare you. We're all freaked out, but a lot of us would still sick up for you. You're still our classmate."

Re: Settling In (Open)
Diego smirked. "That's right."
He watched Lorne a moment as he picked up a box. His first impulse was to reject the help. He was very particular about where things went, how they were put away. He was even worse, almost OCD about how his gadgets, his arrows and hero gear had to be set up. He ignored it though, and reminded himself that it wouldn't be the end of the world if someone else helped put stuff away. Seriously, it wasn't like he couldn't direct traffic, so to speak. And if something was put in the wrong place, it wasn't as if he couldn't put it in the right place later.
"Sure. If you find the box with my gadgets, just leave it by the bow. I'm kinda picky about how that stuff is put away."
He opened up a dresser and started putting his clothes away. "So if stag is so great, why did you ask Bronka? You might have caught crap from the other guys if you said no, but you would've been free to dance with whoever you wanted," he asked casually.
He glanced up as a tall, dark kid just sort of showed up in the doorway. He returned the smile as he tossed t-shirt into a drawer. "Don't have to run off. We're just talking about the dance. You going with anybody?"

"The only person he spends any time with, of course. It's sweet in a codependent, stalky kind of way."
Ar slid into the room around Etienne and flopped down fluidly onto the foot of the fresh-made bed, legs kicked out in front of him across the floor, instantly at home in whoever's room it was. He wore his third best grin, one corner of his mouth raised just a bit higher than the other to hint at the dimples that rewarded those who earned a full smile.
"I heard someone cute mention 'gadgets'. Where are the toys?"

You got base building problems? I feel bad for you, son. I got ninety-nine problems, but a clip ain't one.

Re: Settling In (Open)
Lorne popped open the box and pulled out some books and began setting them on a nearby shelf. He smiled at the question about Bronka. "B is just a little bit dangerous. I don't necessarily see myself with her for the long term, but man is she fun to be with right now. The thing is, is that I kinda think she might feel the same way about me. Except for the dangerous part. I don't think anyone thinks I'm dangerous."
Lorne nodded to ET as he poked his head in and jumped a little bit when Ar interjected. Lorne shook his head and smirked a bit when Ar jumped right on the freshly made bed. He found that he was also curious about the new kid's gadgets and hoped that they wouldn't get the brush off.
