How to post a rumor

The rumor mill is a place to post rumors about your character, other characters, or even NPC's, places or things. When rumors are spread they are generally not tracable back to their source and just because you post a rumor doesn't mean one of your characters is the source of it.

Please keep in mind that a rumor is just that... a rumor. There may be absolutely no truth in them or they may be 100% spot on. They are completely unreliable hearsay. In game you can choose how your character responds to any rumor heard. If your character is pragmatic and doesn't put much weight in them they can ignore them completely. If your character is a gossip hound they can spread them around in game even further.

Most rumors are spread by un-named NPC's. People like, The Air Headed Cheerleader, or The Pimply Faced Kid or even names like Sally-Says-Alot or Teddy Winston. You may respond to rumors in character but if the rumor is about your character you shouldn't respond in character. Think of the rumor mill as exchanges in the hall, or passed notes. It's not something anyone would say to your character in person.

The only rule in the rumor mill is that you shouldn't step on anyone's storyline toes. For example, if some one talks to you OOCly about starting a story where their character gets addicted to superdine don't immediately post a rumor that Sally-Says-Alot saw them hanging out with trolls and shooting up unless they give you permission to do so. Doing this may stomp all over the plans for their story.

That being said everything else is old west style. Post nearly anything you want about anyone.

An example rumor:

The Air Headed Cheerleader says, "Ohmagah! Did you hear about Billy-Everyteen? I heard he got suspended for a week because he came into the cafeteria after hours and threw a jello-mold in Mrs. Fandango's face!"

An example reply to a rumor:

Sally-Says-Alot adds, "Was the jello one of her experiments? Because I wouldn't blame him! That lady freaks me out!"
