My FacePlace is an IC social networking website that is intended to blend and blur the features of real-world social networking websites such as Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter. The My FacePlace section of our forums facilitates the expression of the My FacePlace website.

Like the sites on which it is based, My FacePlace allows you to create a profile with photos, interests, and various other bits of personal information. However, the aspect of My FacePlace that we roleplay out the most is the public messaging aspect of the website where you can post status messages and others can "like" and respond to them, much like Facebook.

Also like its real-world counterparts, privacy is something of an issue for My FacePlace. By default, status messages and photos and the like are all publicly viewable. While it is possible to lock down the privacy settings by navigating a labyrinthine mess of confusing settings, most people tend not to bother.

Our forums have some bbcodes to facilitate posting My FacePlace messages. Here are some basic templates.

Code: Select all

[mfp_img]url to image[/mfp_img] [mfp_me]your name[/mfp_me] Status Message

[mfp_like]"Name" or "Name and x other people"[/mfp_like]

[mfp_img]url to imagep[/mfp_img] [mfp_other]npc or other player's name (with permission)[/mfp_other] Status message
Here's an example of what you might get using those templates:

Lorne Hazlewood
D&D Wednesday night! Can't wait!

Roach Copeland and 3 other people like this

Michael Hazlewood Kill an owlbug for me!

Lorne Hazlewood Do you mean an owl bear or a bugbear?

Michael Hazlewood Kill a goblorc for me!

Lorne Hazlewood Ok now you're just messing with me.

A few notes:

The words "like this" will be automatically appended at the end of an mfp_like tag.

You should use mfp_other for your character if you're responding to someone else's thread.

The mfp_img tag automatically resizes the image to 50x50. For best results you should use an image already at that size.

You should always get permission or work closely with other players if you're writing someone else's response to your own thread.
