POWERS:
Eddie's mutation isn't that he's built to carry a large amount of fat like many might think. Careful examination of Eddie shows that his entire body is just built to be 'huge'. His body holds a reinforced skeleton along with thick slabs of muscle. Organs are thickened with protective fiber and tendons. While Eddie does hold a larger than usual quantity of 'fat', the boy shouldn't be considered obese. Even the 'flab' that some would note around his neck and on his body are only result of incredibly thick skin that droops because of gravity.
Though Eddie needs more meals to handle the daily nutritional amount his body requires, Experts speculate that Eddie isn't just in good health but in phenomenal health.
APPEARANCE:
Eddie is your common Southern boy... If you add about a thousand pounds and a foot and a half to the average person. Having multiple chins that require careful washing every day and flabs of fat around every part of his body, Eddie isn't going to win any beauty contests.
His hair bordering between brown and blown. His eyes are brown. And his expression is generally on the lazy to neutral side.
BIO:
Eddie was born to Gloria Brunts, a simple bank teller of Cankton, Lousiana. Eddie was born three month premature... and yet still weighed about 11 pounds. This should have been Gloria's first clue that her son was a meta-human.
Being a single parent, Gloria was fortunate enough to have had a friend in the local bank that helped her get a job as a teller and then helped her continue on all the way up to morning manager. The money she made would have normally allowed for her to get a small home and live comfortably. However, with Eddie's massive size and eating schedule, this was not to be. Instead of a picket fence and yard, she traded all that away for a simple trailer with a large refrigerator.
Eddie continued to grow fatter and fatter, his size making it next to impossible for him to sit in the chairs at school. Due to constant teasing, Eddie withdrew from the world and spent most of his free time reading books or watching anime. Around fifth grade, Eddie's mother was forced to take Eddie out of the public schools and do home schooling.
Gloria tried her best to keep her son happy. She would wake up every morning at four to make sure his nine required meals were prepared (Along with his nine required snacks) and she'd always be working on a project for Eddie- be it sewing him a new shirt or reinforcing the bed he slept in.
Finally, at the age of thirteen, Eddie's mom had saved up enough money to get her son tested on a genetic level. There, his meta gene was found. Several 'agencies' even were willing to take Eddie off his mother's hands for a very generous fee. Gloria wouldn't allow it, of course. She buckled down as she did for the last decade and worked even harder in finding ways to keep herself close to her son.
This equaled work, home schooling her son, and then night classes for the next six months.
The end result was a self-help book called 'Gifts: A Parents Guide to Raising Metas'. The book was less of a self help guide and more of a non-fiction story about her life with Eddie. Needless to say, it hit number one on the New York Time's Bestseller's list. The popularity of this book allowed for her to write further books, these being proper guides, each one gaining her more fame among the meta-human community.
After that, Eddie and his mother spent the next two years on an adventure. Book tours, book signings, and even two appearances on 'Oprah'. While most of these trips were fun, she began to notice Eddie withdraw further from the world.
The truth was that Eddie didn't mind all the traveling. He also enjoyed that his mother had a much more relaxed life. He just couldn't stand all the snickering and pointing. While most of the people were kind to him, he couldn't help feel that sting when he'd overhear what some would say behind his back.
Eddie began to ignore the tutors his mother hired. He even began to ignore the special diet the dietricians had put him on. He didn't exercise. He didn't even seem to care about bathing.
It took some prodding from his mother, but Eddie finally confessed he was tired of being 'special'. That he wanted to be like everyone else. Gloria knew this was impossible, but realized what she could do is at least put Eddie around people he was more like.
She did her research and found a home for Eddie: Westbrook Academy.
Side Note: Currently, Gloria Brunts is a well known self-help author that specializes in parenting concerning meta-humans. While most of the meta community loves her, some outliers think she is just someone using their mutant son as a way to score money. Not only that but those who hate metas have recently labeled her an 'enemy to the cause'.
