Nilesh Dutta - School bully

Posted: Thu Sep 16, 2010 10:30 am
by Bronka Hajjar

NAME:
Nilesh Dutta

ALIAS:
N/A

School bully

AGE:
17

GRADE:
Sophomore

HEIGHT:
5’6”

BUILD:
lean athletic build

HOME TOWN:
Liverpool, England

POWERS:
null power field (effectively he’s a walking perma-sapper)

APPEARANCE:
Nilesh is short, dark, thin, snarky, and hard. His features are sharp but straight and actually rather noble. He’d be very good looking if he wasn’t wearing an almost perpetual sneer. His eyes are dark brown, almost black. His hair is black, straight, and usually worn a little long and a little messy.

BIO:
Nilesh (pronounced NEE-lesh. Calling him NIGH-lesh will earn you a punch to the face) grew up in a working class neighbourhood in Liverpool, England. The area had a significant immigrant population, but he still suffered enough racial discrimination to give him a chip on his shoulder that he retains to this day. Being a Man U fan didn’t help, but then the fact that he chose to become a Man U fan in Liverpool of all places demonstrates something about his inherent contrarian nature.

From as early as age 10, it was noticed that people tended to get tired around him. Nilesh of course developed the belief that other people are just “lazy” (a belief he maintains to this day). By the age of 13, he was diagnosed as a mutant with the ability to sap energy from all living things in his immediate vicinity (if you’re within about 10 feet, you’ll be affected slightly. If you’re adjacent, you’ll have trouble raising an eyebrow). The ability is involuntary and effectively permanent (i.e. always on).

His family wanted him to try to live a normal life but his presence was eventually deemed too disruptive for normal schools. A friend of the family offered to front the cost of sending him to Westbrook Academy in the States. Nilesh has not adjusted well to the culture shock. He’s bitter, paranoid, and convinced that everyone is against him. He’s also angry that his mutation disqualifies him from participating in organized sports (he fancied himself the next David Beckham), which he considers especially unfair since the ability doesn’t aid his performance in any way (he conveniently ignores its effect on the other players).

Conversely, his ability makes him immune to everyone else’s powers, while weakening their physical energy levels. This makes him the default toughest kid in school, and he takes full advantage of that.

In his own mind, Nilesh is not a bully. Instead he’s an oppressed victim asserting his rights against the overbearing establishment. This means that unlike most bullies, he tends to pick on the stronger kids rather than the weakest. In his own mind he’s the champion of the underdog, and in fact has occasionally stepped in to protect weaker students from lesser bullies. That doesn’t stop him from punching out a smaller kid if they “look at him funny” or offend him in some other way.

Nilesh has a small posse of followers, most of whom are sniveling brats (he won’t tolerate the continued presence of anyone with a forceful personality). Some of them actually do see him as a protector of the weak, while others just like to feel tough by association. Deep down, he doesn’t really like or respect his toadies and frequently unleashes his anger on them. Turnover is pretty high.

Eddie Brunts - Gentle Giant

by Eddie Brunts

NAME:
Edward Dwayne Brunts

ALIAS:
N/A

Two Tons of Justice

AGE:
Sixteen

GRADE:
Sophmore

HEIGHT:
6'11'

BUILD:
Monstrously Overweight

HOME TOWN:
Cankton, Louisiana

POWERS:
Eddie's mutation isn't that he's built to carry a large amount of fat like many might think. Careful examination of Eddie shows that his entire body is just built to be 'huge'. His body holds a reinforced skeleton along with thick slabs of muscle. Organs are thickened with protective fiber and tendons. While Eddie does hold a larger than usual quantity of 'fat', the boy shouldn't be considered obese. Even the 'flab' that some would note around his neck and on his body are only result of incredibly thick skin that droops because of gravity.

Though Eddie needs more meals to handle the daily nutritional amount his body requires, Experts speculate that Eddie isn't just in good health but in phenomenal health.

APPEARANCE:
Eddie is your common Southern boy... If you add about a thousand pounds and a foot and a half to the average person. Having multiple chins that require careful washing every day and flabs of fat around every part of his body, Eddie isn't going to win any beauty contests.

His hair bordering between brown and blown. His eyes are brown. And his expression is generally on the lazy to neutral side.

BIO:
Eddie was born to Gloria Brunts, a simple bank teller of Cankton, Lousiana. Eddie was born three month premature... and yet still weighed about 11 pounds. This should have been Gloria's first clue that her son was a meta-human.

Being a single parent, Gloria was fortunate enough to have had a friend in the local bank that helped her get a job as a teller and then helped her continue on all the way up to morning manager. The money she made would have normally allowed for her to get a small home and live comfortably. However, with Eddie's massive size and eating schedule, this was not to be. Instead of a picket fence and yard, she traded all that away for a simple trailer with a large refrigerator.

Eddie continued to grow fatter and fatter, his size making it next to impossible for him to sit in the chairs at school. Due to constant teasing, Eddie withdrew from the world and spent most of his free time reading books or watching anime. Around fifth grade, Eddie's mother was forced to take Eddie out of the public schools and do home schooling.

Gloria tried her best to keep her son happy. She would wake up every morning at four to make sure his nine required meals were prepared (Along with his nine required snacks) and she'd always be working on a project for Eddie- be it sewing him a new shirt or reinforcing the bed he slept in.

Finally, at the age of thirteen, Eddie's mom had saved up enough money to get her son tested on a genetic level. There, his meta gene was found. Several 'agencies' even were willing to take Eddie off his mother's hands for a very generous fee. Gloria wouldn't allow it, of course. She buckled down as she did for the last decade and worked even harder in finding ways to keep herself close to her son.

This equaled work, home schooling her son, and then night classes for the next six months.

The end result was a self-help book called 'Gifts: A Parents Guide to Raising Metas'. The book was less of a self help guide and more of a non-fiction story about her life with Eddie. Needless to say, it hit number one on the New York Time's Bestseller's list. The popularity of this book allowed for her to write further books, these being proper guides, each one gaining her more fame among the meta-human community.

After that, Eddie and his mother spent the next two years on an adventure. Book tours, book signings, and even two appearances on 'Oprah'. While most of these trips were fun, she began to notice Eddie withdraw further from the world.

The truth was that Eddie didn't mind all the traveling. He also enjoyed that his mother had a much more relaxed life. He just couldn't stand all the snickering and pointing. While most of the people were kind to him, he couldn't help feel that sting when he'd overhear what some would say behind his back.

Eddie began to ignore the tutors his mother hired. He even began to ignore the special diet the dietricians had put him on. He didn't exercise. He didn't even seem to care about bathing.

It took some prodding from his mother, but Eddie finally confessed he was tired of being 'special'. That he wanted to be like everyone else. Gloria knew this was impossible, but realized what she could do is at least put Eddie around people he was more like.

She did her research and found a home for Eddie: Westbrook Academy.

Side Note: Currently, Gloria Brunts is a well known self-help author that specializes in parenting concerning meta-humans. While most of the meta community loves her, some outliers think she is just someone using their mutant son as a way to score money. Not only that but those who hate metas have recently labeled her an 'enemy to the cause'.

Pierce Drummond - Student

by Black Solace

NAME:
Pierce Drummond

ALIAS:
The Carbonator

Who wants some hard rock candy?

AGE:
17

GRADE:
Junior

HEIGHT:
5’9”

BUILD:
solid

HOME TOWN:
Batesville, Mississippi

POWERS:
mutant ability to soften or harden natural materials

APPEARANCE:
Pierce is very “kind of”, as in he’s kind of tall, kind of muscular, and kind of cute. He’s usually smiling and laughing except when he’s frustrated.

BIO:
Pierce comes from a middle class family in the southern United States. His father manages a hardware store and his mother teaches at a local high school. He had a fairly normal upbringing, doing well at school thanks to his mother and excelling at sports.

His mutation kicked in relatively late at the age of 16. He fell asleep during a family picnic and woke up covered in stone. His parents had to summon help from the local fire department to chisel him free. After that, curious incidents with hard rock or soft mud continued to dog him. Not knowing what else to do, his parents made the hard decision to send him “up north” to a special school.

Pierce has taken very well to Paragon and Westbrook. He’s determined to become a proper Hero when he graduates and spends a lot of time patrolling with his best friend Louis Duchesne. He also plays football and basketball and is quietly a member of the school’s chess club.

While he’s managed to gain very good control of his powers, Pierce continues to be the victim of frequent bad luck. If something falls off a shelf, expect it to land on his head. If someone opens a fizzy soda, expect it to spray in his face. Occasionally this will cause him to momentarily lose his temper. Otherwise he is good natured, friendly, and always willing to lend someone a hand.

Mike Jackson (Save the Cheerleader, Save the World) - Mike for the most part is a good guy, albeit a little goofy. He has a tendency to make crude comments and he prides himself on being a smart ass, though at times only half of that description is accurate. He's magic based, an illusionist. He'd do better with this if he practiced, but he's happy with what his father calls 'parlor tricks.'

Cody Ward - Decently sized, Cody Ward plays tackle, either offense or defense. He's dedicated, follows direction well, but hangs on academically by the skin of his teeth. He's a big fan of the C minus. Cody is hails from Iowa, where he was a starter on his JV team. "The Human Ladder," Cody's mutation allows him to stretch very tall. He doesn't become more flexible when he stretches, just super tall. He jokes that his only super power will be to rescue kittens from trees.

Walter (DeWalt) Hickson - Decently sized defensive lineman, good all around guy. DeWalt can manipulate sonic waves, which he can concentrate into blasts or use to mimic speech patterns. He usually does the latter.

Derrick Cork Every team needs that one guy you love to hate, so we have Derrick "Put a cork in it" Cork. He likes to run his mouth, and does so - often. If he doesn't like something, you know he'll complain about it.

Pierce Drummond (Introduction to Metahuman Crime Fighting) is a moderately-sized but solidly built Junior with six or seven years of experience playing both football and basketball in school and community leagues. He has an enthusiastic attitude but tends to get frustrated easily, especially when he feels the people around him aren't paying attention. He can play any position but gravitates towards outside linebacker and lives for the big sack.

Shanna Lasseter - She's the 5th of 8 kids, a mix of girls and boys, all rough and tumble. Shanna has an athletic build, mostly muscular but it makes her look bulky. She's fast on her feet and not afraid to take a hit, but she rather looks forward to giving them herself. She's the girl that punches your arm in the hallway to say hi, and you walk away with a decent black and blue. It's not that she doesn't know her own strength, she just likes to use it. She's a magic based character, she goes by the hero name Sundown because she has the ability to create darkness in limited areas. Shanna has previously played Cornerback in both Pop Warner and for the Mustangs Intramural team.

Winston Mitchell someone who's reasonably athletic but doesn't really have the hands to play like his father and his uncles and cousins did; sort of gangly - would be better at basketball really. Kinda an aw-shucks klutz. He beats himself up for messing up a bit but generally likes being there for people. A bit an optimistic idiot though.

Bobby "Junebug" June - Bobby June was originally born in Vancouver, Canada. He grew up in an intense hockey family, Canuck fans of course, and both of his two older brothers, his younger brother, and his dad have all played hockey intensely throughout their lives. Bobby has dabbled in hockey himself, but can't seem to learn how to skate. He's always LOVED to check people, and now, although a bit raw, he's rather stocky, decently fast, and possesses the talent needed to eventually become a good middle linebacker.

Maddi Valmont-Harrison - Student

by Faige Harrison

NAME:
Madelyn Juliette Valmont-Harrison

ALIAS:
Ivy

AGE:
Fourteen

GRADE:
Freshman

HEIGHT:
5 feet 1 inch

BUILD:
Slim, boyish

HOME TOWN:
Paragon City

POWERS:
Maddi's only power is superior regeneration. She is able to regenerate huge amounts of damage very quickly. There is, of course, a limit to this. She is by no means immortal. The more damage she takes the longer she will take to regenerate herself. Small cuts or scrapes are gone within seconds, a broken bone will be healed completely in a few minutes. If she were to lose a limb it would take up to a month to grow back, but it would grow back and be fully functional.

APPEARANCE:
Maddi is short and slim, a build that seems to run in the family. She has bright blonde hair and blue eyes, the all American girl to a tee. Her clothing is clean, well kept and rather expensive looking. A subtle smattering of the right name brands gives one just the hint of "I'm richer than you" without it being too in your face.

Her personality is impossibly bright and chipper. She's a little ray of sunshine, spreading joy wherever she goes. She doesn't take to catty games but has never had to resort to such because she's always been extremely popular.

BIO:
Born to one of the wealthy elite families of Paragon City, Maddi has only attended the best boarding schools for most of her short life. Her father is Richard Harrison, the owner of Harrison frozen foods and her mother is Gale Valmont, former anchorwoman turned stay at home mom of four. Maddi, herself, is the middle of four girls and so far the only that has presented a meta in her family.

Her "abilities" were recently discovered when she was struck by a car on her way home from a shopping trip. The accident left her barely scathed and quickly back to her normal cheerful self. In a panic, her mother called the only "expert" she knew in these matters, her niece Faige. Faige referred Maddi to Westbrook and, though she is a little late, she's been accepted for the fall trimester.

Louis Duschesne - Student

NAME:
Louis Duschesne

ALIAS:
Mistborn

When you hear the morning rain, when you feel the moisture on the wind, you will think of me, yes?

AGE:
17

GRADE:
Junior

HEIGHT:
5’10”

BUILD:
wispy (literally!)

HOME TOWN:
Revin, France

POWERS:
mutant ability to raise, lower, and manipulate the moisture content of the surrounding air

APPEARANCE:
Louis is a very obvious meta. His mutation has caused his body to become insubstantial and he is required to wear a special harness to help preserve his structural integrity. He is pale, hairless, and very thin.

BIO:
Louis comes from a very small community in the Ardennes region of northern France where his parents run a small grocery shop. As a young boy he loved to wander in the woods and pretend he was a knight or a musketeer, slaying monsters and rescuing damsels.

One night shortly after his fifteenth birthday, he failed to come home during a severe rainstorm. Search parties were sent out the next day but there was no sign of him. A week later, during another heavy rain, a weak, pale, and soggy Louis stumbled into his parents’ home and collapsed on the floor. To this day he has no memory of that missing week.

Louis spent the better part of the next year in a medical isolation ward as doctors tried and failed to come to terms with his unique mutation. His body would periodically transform into mist or vapor and start to dissipate. On several occasions he completely lost cohesion and literally became mist filling the room. Each time this happened it was feared that he would not be able to reform himself.

In June of 2010, the Duschesne’s were contacted by a researcher with Crey Biotech in Paragon City. He told them he had developed a special harness that might provide Louis the needed stability to once again live outside of a lab. Of course, accepting this help meant Louis would have to remain in Paragon for several years so the Crey team could monitor his progress. Though reluctant to send their child to another country (they were too poor for regular visits), they finally agreed for the sake of their son who they wished to live as close to a normal life as possible.

For his part Louis is very happy to be in Paragon. While he remains unhappy about his condition, he also realizes that he is much better off now than he used to be. He’s made a lot of friends at Westbrook, enjoys living in the most exciting city in the world, and best of all… has begun to manifest super powers. Now he doesn’t have to just pretend to fight monsters and rescue fair maidens.

The Mustang's Band NPCs

by Brodi Andrews
Cori and Tori Walker (AKA: Thing One and Thing Two ) - These two are identical twins that come from Michigan. They have the mutation of sharing eachother senses at will. This has caused the two sisters to grow increasingly close to the point of occasionally thinking of themselves as a single being. They both have taken up the sax and have become the flirts of the band.

Lesli Coffman (AKA: Poor Mans Midas) - Lesli was your typical band geek until one day when she turned her father's BMW into the largest brass paper weight in the neighborhood. Anything Lesli touches turns to brass, which sadly isn't as lucrative as gold, like King Midas. However, that being said, Lesli has accept her new found ability and her constant need for gloves.

Jeff Chovers (AKA: Jitters) - Jeff's parents have won the lottery two times, each time corresponding with Jeff getting struck by lightening. Sadly, it would seem, those around Jeff become increasingly lucky while Jeff, sadly, becomes inceasingly unlucky. This has made the sophmore more than a little jittery - thus the nickname. Ever the trooper though, Jeff continues to try to be a typical highschooler. However, that is a challenge in and of itself when you're constantly breaking bones, tripping down stairs, and occasionally setting yourself on fire.

Trevor Winchester (AKA "Magical Trevor") - Trevor is an exchange student from Leeds, England. He played the snare drum in the ATC and naturally wanted to carry his love of the instrument over to the band. Trevor's ability is that he can communicate with animals, holding conversations like one would with a human being. His build is tall and lanky with brown eyes a mop of messy brown curls.

Frankie Russo (AKA: Johnny Octopus) - Frankie Russo is an average looking tenth grader save for the fact that he has six arms. He has given himself the persona of "Johnny Octopus" for patrol, dressing like a movie gangster and wielding six tranq-pistols, none of which he has very good aim with. He was the drummer for a casual garage band called "Fatal When Swallowed" before coming to Westbrook. Here he has proven to be a natural on the multi tenor drums.

William Chung (Aka: Magno) - William Chung came to Westbrook from Hawaii when his parents discovered his meta ability to manipulate magnetic fields. He is adept with many different kinds of brass instruments having taken private lessons his entire life but favors the baritone horn. He is a short, somewhat stout individual with a quiet but easy going disposition.

Kara Jackson (Aka: Nettle) - Kara Jackson is boarding from Detroit. She's a plant controller in the extreme sense of the world, even to the extent that she can bring burned wood back to life. Having no previous experience with instruments, she was no less enthusiastic at picking up the cymbals. Kara is average height, sporting dark skin and eyes with short neatly kept hair. Her disposition is outgoing, generally friendly but somewhat rough around the edges.

NAME:
Troy Donaldson

ALIAS:
Pinpoint

The busy-body RA

AGE:
17

GRADE:
Senior

HEIGHT:
Height

BUILD:
Athletic

HOME TOWN:
Boston, MA

POWERS:
Troy's over-sized ears give him phenomenal hearing

APPEARANCE:
Troy is a preppy goody-two-shoes in appearance. As a Resident Adviser, he feels it's important that he show his pride in his school while on campus, so more often than not he can be found in his school uniform. If someone is unlucky enough to run into him off campus, he's the quintessential prep: polo shirts, sweaters drapped casually over his shoulders, and perfectly pressed khakis. His shaggy hair is the only clue to the "bad boy" that hides underneath

BIO:
Troy was born with a silver spoon in his mouth - and ears like a bat. Literally. While many parents deal with babies who are light sleepers, the Donaldsons had to sound-proof their nursery so they could move freely in their own home while baby Troy slept. Lacking the proper patience to raise a child with special needs, Troy was put into boarding school as soon as he was of school age.

Troy has carefully cultivated a dual-personality. To adults and other authority figures, he's a charming choir boy, always ready and eager to help out in any way he can. He's a responsible student who even offers to tutor students who are falling behind. Such a reputation for excellence has earned Troy the trust of the administration, and there was no hesitation in making him a resident adviser when he became eligible.

The students, however, often see a different side of Troy. Those big ears mean he hears every bit of trouble of gossip the students in his charge get up to after hours. And he isn't shy about spreading that gossip around. If you're lucky, he just tells the teachers you were making out with your boyfriend when you claimed to be too sick to be in class. If you're unlucky, the entire student body soon knows that you still sleep with your blankie and have a crush on Nilesh.

Cecil B. Moon

NAME:
Cecil B. Moon

ALIAS:
N/A

Give me fabulous or give me death!

AGE:
16

GRADE:
11

HEIGHT:
9' 4" (and counting)

BUILD:
Thin

HOME TOWN:
Savannah, GA

POWERS:
Continuously under observation, but for the moment Cecil's only known metahuman trait is the fact that he is really, really, really, really tall and shows no sign yet of stopping.

APPEARANCE:
Cecil's love of fashion is evident every single day, from his "improvements" to the uniform to his usual blend of runway and one-of-a-kind clothes. He never leaves the room without every button buttoned and every loose thread snipped. He insists on being not 'that really tall guy over there', but rather 'that fabulously put together guy over there who also happens to be really tall'.

BIO:
Cecil has been at Westbrook for years now, but has only recently stepped up as a force to be reckoned with in the social sphere. For the past few years, the Decorations Committee has been dominated by a singular, all-consuming presence: Brittany. Brittany's reign is perhaps best remembered not for her stunning successes (like last year's Masquerade-themed prom) but for the weeks of sleepless nights she inflicted on the rest of the committee in preparation. Her temper and strict discipline were as notorious as her impeccable taste. But Brittany's out, graduated and off who-cares-where doing hell-if-I-know-what. None of that matters any more: The era of Cecil is finally here and he's determined to take it all to the next level. His first decree as the new Decorations Queen - after decreeing that the title is now officially 'Decorations Queen' - was that the annual Valentine's dance would be changing venue from the "tired" gym to the great outdoors. February in Rhode Island be damned, Cecil has a vision and that vision is all about making the world wonder "Brittany who?" while walking in his Winter Wonderland.

Of course, Cecil B. Moon wasn't always the pillar of fabulosity he is today, though he will tell anyone who asks that he came out of his mamma with a tape measure around his neck and a fistful of swatches for new drapes. He always knew he was different from the other kids in the neighborhood and never put too much effort into hiding it. When the first growth spurt of puberty hit, hiding was no longer even an option. That's, obviously, because the first growth spurt of puberty didn't stop. The stares, glares, and barely-heard mutters Cecil was accustomed to while he walked the fine line between unique and freakish grew into open gawking and vocal taunting when he took one giant step over the line. Trapped in a hellish, never-ending comedic routine of ducking through doors and squeezing into desks, Cecil withdrew from his few friends and the baffled family who tried their best to be supportive.

Things turned around when a long-anticipated vacation in Paragon City - where there is a life-size statue of a man that makes even Cecil feel short and, more importantly, more than one decent store that carries his size (and larger!) - culminated in a surprise interview at Westbrook Academy. In a scene Cecil says came right out of his own personal fairy tale, he found himself sitting in an outfit that was a little too big in a chair that was built to support him in a school where he was not the oddest sight between second and third period. He was immediately snapped up by the reigning maven of the Decorations Committee for his ability to hang high banners and reach top shelves. Little did Brittany know the primal force of fab she kept locked under her iron grip, restrained but patient, biding his time.

Now... Now the world will know.
