NAME:
Mia Cobol

ALIAS:
N/A

Artist and elder in training

AGE:
15

GRADE:
Sophomore

HEIGHT:
5'8"

BUILD:
Skinny but curvy

HOME TOWN:
Carrington, VA

POWERS:
Mia can perform magic spells, with varying degrees of success. Her strength seems to be in creating illusions, using her drawing and painting as a focus, but she has recently taken an interest in healing magics.

APPEARANCE:
The first thing most people notice about Mia is her hair. It's shiny silver and reaches past her waist. As she tells it, her hair was once fiery red, but the color faded and then altogether disappeared around the same time her paintings began moving. Her hair coupled with her pale skin make her bright blue eyes stand out. Her style is a combination of vintage clothes from the 50's and 60's and modern and she likes to hit flea markets and resale shops to find the next jewel for her closet. Mia is generally a nice person and will go out of her way to put a person at ease around her. She gets a little uncomfortable if attention gets too focused on her though and can come across as shy in the wrong situation. She almost goes nowhere without her sketchpad.

BIO:
There was nothing special about Mia's birth. The youngest daughter of a youngest son, most of her childhood was spent being overlooked in the town of Carrington, VA. She attended school with the other children of her small community, including the teachings of the elders which had slowly begun to fall into ancient history. The one area Mia excelled in was her art. A pencil, paintbrush, or charcoal seems as natural a part of her as her own arm.

All that changed when Mia was thirteen. The color began to drain from her hair and within a month it had turned silver. Soon after, her drawings and paintings began to move across the page of their own accord. Her father took her to the elders of the community, who told him that Mia was blessed with a power over magic that had not been seen in their town in 150 years. That she was destined to become the next leader of their people. However, there was no one left alive in the community that could teach her to hone her abilities. The elders tried for two years to teach her and when that failed, the search began for one who could. Hearing that Mr Maximillian was teaching at Westbrook, her father and the elders of the community arranged for her to attend.

Notes: Mia's community is not cut off from the rest of the world and their people do have all the modern conveniences. Their world is not archaic, only the way in which they react to it. Children defer to their parents, even after they turn 18, and the community at large defers to the elders. Years ago, the elders were chosen as those that exhibited a natural talent for magic, usually denoted by their silver hair. There hasn't been a true elder since the death of the last one 150 years ago.

Mia is not seen as a messiah or any kind of religious leader. She is being groomed to be more of an aristocrat or political figure. The head of their government.
