"Hi! Have we met?"
AGE:
14.92
GRADE:
Sophomore
HEIGHT:
5'11"
BUILD:
Slim
HOME TOWN:
Paragon City, RI
POWERS:
David is telekinetic, able to move and manipulate objects with his mind. His powers first presented at age 8, and he has been training with his father, a telepath with very minor telekinetic abilities, ever since. David's strength lies in fine control and split focus; smaller, lighter objects are easier to lift and manipulate in large numbers than a single, large object of comparable weight. The upper limit on David's single-target lifting strength is a few times his own body weight, though the focus required to keep something that heavy aloft is exceedingly taxing and cannot be maintained for long. His own body seems to be much easier for him to carry than someone else's, though he has been known to forget to keep it aloft.
APPEARANCE:
David is tall and the sort of slender that comes from a high metabolism coupled with a serious growth spurt. The recent growth spurt also shows in a bit of general clumsiness while his hands and feet work on remembering where they are. His hair is messy by definition, kept just neat enough to prevent birds from confusing it for home. He is almost never seen without his jean jacket and a ready smile.
BIO:
The vast majority of David's life has taken place with his father in their King's Row apartment. Mr. Hurt is a middle to upper-level corporate cubicle dweller content to operate a couple promotions below his personal level of incompetence. David's mother left the picture of her own accord fairly early on, a decision the adults involved felt was for the best. David is fairly close to his father and accustomed to sharing his thoughts and feelings with him, often quite literally. The pair are regular attendees at Paragon First UMC.
When David's powers manifested, his father began training him in their use the same way he had been trained as a child, by immersion. Anything David could do with his new abilities, he was expected to do with his abilities, at least while at home. As he grew and practiced, that list grew with him, sometimes by natural progression and sometimes via special projects laid out for him - like tie-tying in Summer 2010. At this point, there are very few things David still does strictly by hand. Note taking is one of the exceptions, even though his handwriting is much neater when his hands aren't involved, because his hands are more likely to write down what the teacher is saying and not whatever David happens to be thinking.
David is diagnosed with ADD, though he is not currently medicated. He is very much aware of the condition, one that he counts as an asset most of the time, and does his best to mitigate the problems it can cause in places like classrooms. He's a bright kid who typically does well in school, especially in math. He was one of the most enthusiastic cipherers on the math team at his old school.
