Simon went up to his best friend. "Hey, have you seen my roommate?"

"You mean that creepy tall kid?"

"That's Etienne, dude. Come on."

"You mean you haven't heard? He was found in the garden this morning, man. I guess someone caught him skulking around, all creepy, because he had a nasty bump on his head, and his hair was matted with blood."

"Oh my god, was he OK?"

"Yeah. I guess he has a hard head. He didn't even have a bandage when he was in math today, and that's like his second class. Some other guys said he didn't miss his first class either."

[Cadence Calloway]

Cadence's roommate hears this in passing, and says: "Maybe someone's boyfriend jumped him. He burst into the girl's floor the other night, and scared the living daylights out of us! On top of that, he's been hanging around Cadence, and unless you think this Kyle guy is make-believe, then you know she's taken. Or maybe there's more to it? She came back to the room a couple nights ago with a creepy looking doll.

"I bet Etienne gave it to her. And then this Kyle guy found out and got all kinds of jealous or something!"
